Naan Bread.
Ingredients.
15g / 1/2oz of fresh yeast.
1/4 of a teaspoon of sugar.
2 tablespoons of warm water.
450g / 1 lb of self raising flour.
1 teaspoon of salt.
150ml / 1/4 of a pint of tepid milk.
150ml / 1/4 of a pint of natural yoghurt,( at room temperature)
2 tablespoons of melted butter or cooking oil.
Method.
1. Mix the yeast with the sugar and water and leave in a warm place for 15 minutes.
2. Sift the flour and salt into a bowl, make a well in the centre and pour in the yeast liquid, milk, yoghurt and butter or oil.
3. Mix to a smooth dough and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Place in a bowl, cover and leave to rise in a warm place for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
5. Knead on a floured surface, then divide into 6 pieces.
6. Pat or roll each piece into an oval, place on warm baking trays and bake for 10 minutes at 240c / 475f.
Brush with melted butter and serve warm.
